Presentation of the PHANTOMS OF FORGOTTEN MEN, the Great Depression in Hollywood genres showcase.

Luigi Einaudi Foundation – 2 May 2013, 5.00 p.m.

Introductory meeting, on Thursday 2 May 2013 at 5.00 p.m. at the Luigi Einaudi Foundation (via Principe Amedeo 34, Turin) for the PHANTOMS OF FORGOTTEN MEN. The Great Depression in Hollywood genres showcase.

PHANTOMS OF FORGOTTEN MEN offers a selection of films – programmed at the Mario Gromo Library/Mediatheque during the month of May – which were produced in Hollywood during the years of the Great Depression and that have acted as an exemplary mirror for an insight into those years, that type of economic crisis and the anguish, the disappointments and the hopes ensuing, through adequate instruments of enquiry and analysis. In this sense, cinema is offered as a valuable testimony and proof, which may be searched not only by cinema historians but also by those dealing with economic and social disciplines.

The showcase was created in collaboration with the Luigi Einaudi Foundation, DAMS - University of Turin and curated by Gruppo cinematografico universitario Ultracorpi.
