To mark the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, the National Cinema Museum presents ‘Fare gli italiani’ (Making Italians): The history of Italy in film. A series of fortnightly events reconstructs the history of our country from the Risorgimento movement to the present day with 26 “classics” of Italian film.
The series will open on Monday, 4 April 2011, at 8.30 p.m., with special guest Italo Moscati who will introduce two of his documentaries: Concerto Italiano: Storia e Storie dell’Unità d’Italia and Torino Gira – which cover the same historic period but using television footage. Admission: 5.50/4.00/3.00 euros.
The festival entitled ‘Fare gli italiani’ (Making Italians: The history of Italy in film) continues in Cinema Massimo’s Screen Three – organised by the National Cinema Museum to mark the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy – with a special premiere of Giuseppe Tornatore’s documentary L'ultimo Gattopardo (The last Leopard): a portrait of Goffredo Lombardo, on Wednesday, 6 April 2011 at 9.00 p.m., originally presented as a special event at the last Venice Film Festival. Admission: 5.50/4.00/3.00 euros.
