THE PLACE THAT I AM! everyone is a place where it’s great to live
The Fondazione Paideia Onlus and the National Cinema Museum are offering THE PLACE THAT I AM!, an exhibition with photographs, portraits and words, from 14 November 2013 to 6 January 2014, born from a meeting between photographer Andrea Guermani, artist Coco Cano and writer Anna Peiretti, on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the Fondazione Paideia, which has been offering support to families and children in difficulty since 1993.
The implementation of this project arose from the wish to recount the stories of ten children whom Paideia met in the past years. Children who have dreams, wishes and passions, beyond their difficulties and their specific needs and who wanted to speak about themselves without fears and without prejudices.
With the help of Coco Cano, these small protagonists created their own portrait in front of the looking-glass; they talked about themselves with Anna Peiretti, inspiring places in history; Andrea Guermani caught them in snapshots while they were intent on doing what they most loved. Ten large-format panels tell the stories of these ten children, in the hope that, by crossing this itinerary made up of photographs, portraits and words, everybody may discover that all kids ought to be welcomed, because each story is unique, special and one in a million.
Installed on the outer railings of the Mole Antonelliana, the symbol of the city and seat of the National Cinema Museum, this exhibition also highlights the commitment on the part of this institution, which has been working for years to become open to everyone, a reference hub for families and children in difficult situations.
The place that I am! laboratory for children, with photographer Andrea Guermani and writer Anna Peiretti, is programmed on Saturday 16 November from 3.00 to 7.00 p.m. at the National Cinema Museum in the Paideia Hall.
Participants will be able to discover “the place” inside each one of them, retracing the journey made by the exhibition’s protagonists: they can talk about their wishes and their passions in front of a looking-glass, with help from Anna Peiretti, depicting themselves afterwards in a playful photo-shoot before Andrea Guermani.’s camera.
This rendez-vous will also be an opportunity for supporting the Fondazione Paideia (www.fondazionepaideia.it) and its projects dedicated to children in dire straits.
Activities are open with free admission to all families by booking, calling numbers (+39) 011 8138564-565 (from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m., from Monday to Friday), within 3.00 p.m. on Friday 15 November.
