Summer 2015 at the National Cinema Museum

The National Cinema Museum will be open regularly for the entire summer period, furthermore, the Museum will feature a special opening on Tuesday 11 and Tuesday 18 August 2015, with the following hours 9.00 a.m. - 8.00 p.m.

On the Ferragosto festivity, Saturday 15 August 2015, the Museum will be open regularly with these hours 9.00 a.m. - 11.00 p.m.

 

It will be possible during the whole period to visit the NEOREALIST CINEMA. The brilliance of reality in post-war Italy exhibition (4 June - 29 November 2015), with Alberto Barbera’s curatorship, and Grazia Paganelli and Fabio Pezzetti Tonion’s collaboration. This exhibition, seventy years after the stunning appearance of Rome open city by Roberto Rossellini, illustrates what is still the most well-known, beloved and influential season in the history of Italian cinema, through original film-frames and footage, documents, posters, promotional material, texts and screenplays, fragments from interviews, production notes, letters and statements.

 

On Friday 15 August 2014 at 6.00 p.m. our visitor public will be able to take advantage of the guided tour to the Neorealist Cinema. The brilliance of reality in post-war Italy exhibition for the whole family. Bookings on number +39 011 8138564/5 (active from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.), within one day prior to the date. Admission free for juniors up to 18 years, 8.00 euro concessions for their escorts. Tour (lasting about one hour and a half) 4.00 euro per person.

 

In addition to this, the Museum is offering a treasure hunt as an activity for families, called Some like cinema on the same day at 6.00 p.m., during which youngsters will be involved in a sleuthing itinerary throughout the Cinema Machines room, in order to discover the protagonists and the films that have made the history of cinema.

This activity will last about 1h30’, with booking required (within the previous day) always on number +39 011 8138.564/5 at the cost of 4.00 € per child, 3.00 € for Junior Card holders. Admission to the Museum free for children, while a cost of 3.00 € is foreseen for parents and escorts.

 

It will be possible throughout the summer to take advantage of the National Cinema Museum Family Special, featuring admission to the Museum and the temporary exhibition at the cost of 10.00 € per person for adults and free for juniors up to 18 years.

 

During the summer period, the Cinema Massimo and the “Mario Gromo” Library/Mediatheque in via Matilde Serao will be closed to the public as follows:

 

- Cinema Massimo, from Monday 20 July to Wednesday 26 August 2015 included.

 

- “Mario Gromo” Library/Mediatheque, from Monday 3 to Sunday 23 August 2015 included.
