Francia e Italia nei manifesti Pathé

Mole Antonelliana, Torino
22 April31 December 2002
The exhibit features 37 original photographs and posters belonging to the famous French company, bearing witness to the collaboration between Pathé and Italy (and Torino in particular), from the era of silent films to the successes and the big international productions of the 1950s and ‘60s.
The relationship dates back to the beginning of the last century. At the end of the 1800s, the film industry was born in Torino thanks to the city’s ties with nearby France and its intense cultural exchanges with Paris and Lyon, the first capitals of worldwide cinema. Many production companies were founded, all of which were private, and in 1914 the first blockbuster in the history of cinema was made in Torino, Cabiria by Giovanni Pastrone, based on the screenplay by Gabriele D’Annunzio. Pathé was determined to increase its presence on the foreign market and distributed its productions in Italy, as well as Italian films in France.
