Marilyn and friends
Once again, the National Cinema Museum reveals its interest in feminine themes and dedicates an exhibit to Marilyn Monroe. Organized in collaboration with Fratelli Alinari – Fondazione per la Storia della Fotografia, the Museum hosts the world premiere of this exhibit: 155 never-before-seen photographs by the American photographer Sam Shaw are on view in the Temple Hall.
This is a way to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the birth of Norma Jeane Baker and to remember the happiest and best moments of her career. The exhibit celebrates both the actress and the woman; her beauty, her sensitivity and her fragile yet contradictory personality are captured forever in the photos shot on the sets, which show her more radiant and seductive than ever. The exhibit also reveals a cross-section of Hollywood during the 1950s, with many photo portraits of actors who made the history of American cinema and shared experiences with Marilyn, in life and in art. An outstanding collection from family archives that bears witness to the sprit of an era, a patrimony that is both cinematographic and photographic is revealed for the first time to visitors of the National Cinema Museum.
