The National Cinema Museum for CINEMA AT THE ROYAL PALACE
Court of Honour, Royal Palace – 27 July and 4 August 2017, 10.00 p.m.
The National Cinema Museum is taking part again this year in the CINEMA AT THE ROYAL PALACE – reaching its sixth edition this year – in addition to being the partner of the DISTRETTO CINEMA organisers in setting up the arena, also in presenting two event-evenings of particular interest.
On Thursday 27 July the public will be able to watch the screenings of the restored L’uomo dei cinque palloni (Break up) by Marco Ferreri, awarded with a Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 2016. Its restoration was carried out by the Museum and by the Bologna Film Archive thanks to funding from Massimo Sordella. For this occasion the film will be introduced by Claudia Gianetto, head of the Museum Film Archive and by Massimo Sordella himself.
On Friday 4 August Stefano Boni, head of Programming at the Cinema Massimo, will introduce a live soundtrack performance by the Massimo Volume band for La chute de la maison Usher (The fall of the House of Usher), a silent film by French director Jean Epstein (based on the eponymous novel by Edgar Allan Poe). This spectacular cine-concert was born in 2008 when, following an invitation by the Traffic festival in Turin, in collaboration with the National Cinema Museum, the Massimo Volume got together again in 2008 and rehearsed and performed the original live soundtrack of the film for the first time.
Admission to screenings 6.00/5.00/4.00 euro. For further info www.distrettocinema.it.
