TRAITS AND PORTRAITS
For Alberto. 33 Photographs by Fulvia Farassino Curator Cesare Colombo
The National Cinema Museum in Turin presents the TRAITS AND PORTRAITS. For Alberto. 33 Photographs by Fulvia Farassino exhibition, by curator Cesare Colombo, from 23 November 2013 to 6 January 2014.
This exhibition, organised for the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the demise of Alberto Farassino, the famous film critic and journalist for La Repubblica, comprises 33 large-format photos shot between 1980 and 2007 and selected from the huge archive of Fulvia Farassino, the wife of Alberto and a professional photographer: a tale through pictures, unusual portraits taken with the intent of capturing stars in unofficial moments, in life between the set, the backstage, stardom and festivals.
“I was searching for a simple way that would be complete at the same time, for remembering Alberto in the world he always lived in - Fulvia Farassino states – and it took me ten years to find a way, through my snapshots, for recounting what we did during festivals, when we were together and not-together at the same time, when we were two sides of the same coin. Although we worked for two different papers, we often dealt with the same characters and he used to be there, in the room, while I was outside, to capture private images, on the basis of his stories. Festivals were also a way and a moment for finding each other, we were a couple there, free, it was, paradoxically, a moment all to ourselves, of great personal and professional intimacy.”
