CINEMA SOARS FROM TURIN AIRPORT Exhibitions, interactive screens and reduced admission at the National Cinema Museum for all passengers.

From 6 June 2014 - Turin Airport

Turin, 6 June 2014 - Turin Airport is strengthening its collaboration with the National Cinema Museum, by contributing increasingly to the development of a tourism and cultural trend within the territory.

As from today, passengers going through the “Sandro Pertini” airport may become aware of cultural offers by the most visited museum in town, located inside the monument that is the symbol of Turin, the Mole Antonelliana.

Film history has shown over and over again what degree of fascination flight and airports wield over spectators, but cinema is now entering an airport with its history for the very first time.

On approaching the exit from the baggage collection area, arriving passengers are welcomed by a preview of the temporary exhibitions set up at the Mole Antonelliana. The exhibition inaugurating this space is BEST ACTRESS. Oscar Divas, at the National Cinema Museum until 31 August 2014. Twelve panels at the airport will offer a small preview of the over 370 exhibits on display at the Mole Antonelliana, which retrace the history of the women who won the prestigious statuette as best leading actress from 1929 to 2014. Portraits of those stars and pictures from the films they played in will alternate with stunning posters, set costumes and props, screenplays and snapshots from the ceremony, and valuable documents linked to the history of the Academy.

In addition to large-format photographs recounting the history of cinema, there will be one of the three multi-medial hubs (the others are in the departure and the arrival lounges), which will permit an exploration of the rich range of museum collections by consulting a periodically updated selection from the museum archives. It will thus be possible to make the most of waiting times by obtaining practical information, checking the programme at the Cinema Massimo, obtaining previews of all new dates and initiatives, including the Turin Film Festival, CinemAmbiente, the TGLFF - Turin Gay&Lesbian Film Festival. Furthermore, all passengers will be able to visit the National Cinema Museum with a reduced ticket by simply interacting with the multi-medial hubs, receiving a discount code to be shown at the Mole Antonelliana ticket-offices on their cellphone.

This project has been made possible thanks to the collaboration with IGPDecaux, a partner of the Airport for the management of advertising space, which decided to support it by making its screens available.

Roberto Barbieri, the Sagat Managing Director, said:

“We are increasingly committed not only to making the Airport an efficient facility, but also a location that is welcoming, full of stimulation and open to the cultural and productive excellencies throughout our territory. This valuable partnership with the Cinema Museum and the recent opening of new sales outlets are our first concrete results on a route for integrating with the city: we wish to make passengers aware of the beauty and cultural wealth of the city expecting them, right from the moment they land.”

"This collaboration with Turin Airport – as pointed out by Alberto Barbera, the Director of the National Cinema Museum – is an excellent example of how we may take the best advantage of possible synergies between partners operating within the territory, by sharing targets, strategies and communication tools. The Cinema Museum will be using an extraordinary promotional platform thanks to the new installations made available by the Airport’s foresight, while travellers arriving and departing cannot but appreciate the increasing quality of the facilities they are being offered".
