The first event in the UN MUSEO PER L’AFRICA (A MUSEUM FOR AFRICA) series in Cinema Massimo features a screening of the film Diol Kadd: Life, Diaries and Takes on a Village in Senegal by Gianni Celati
As part of the UN MUSEO PER L’AFRICA (A MUSEUM FOR AFRICA) – series of events, talks and screenings on the African continent – Friday, 20 January 2012 at 8.30 p.m. in Cinema Massimo’s Screen Three, will be screened the film Diol Kadd: Life, Diaries and Takes on a Village in Senegal by Gianni Celati, which won best social documentary at the recent edition of the International Rome Film Festival.

The National Cinema Museum presents the retrospective entitled Fino alla fine del mondo (Till the end of the world): The films of Béla Tarr in Cinema Massimo
The National Cinema Museum pays tribute to Béla Tarr – the Hungarian master considered to be one of the five best contemporary film directors in the world – with a retrospective entitled Fino alla fine del mondo (Till the end of the world): The films of Béla Tarr from Saturday 21st to Tuesday 31st January.
The retrospective is a National Cinema Museum project made possible thanks to support from Movies Inspired which acquired the Italian rights for the films chosen for the series.
The series will begin on Saturday, 21 January 2012 at 4 p.m. in Cinema Massimo’s Screen Three, with a screening of Family Nest (Családi tuzfeszék) which follows the short film Hotel Magnezit (Hungary 1978, 10’, B/W). Admission: 6.00/4.00/3.00 euros.

The National Cinema Museum presents Michael Powell’s Peeping Tom for MAGNIFICHE VISIONI (MAGNIFICENT VISIONS): The Permanent Festival of Restored Film.
The National Cinema Museum presents Michael Powell’s film Peeping Tom on Tuesday, 24 January 2012 at 8.45 p.m. in Cinema Massimo’s Screen Three, screening the digital restoration carried out by the BFI. There will be a repeat screening on Wednesday, 25 January 2012 at 4 p.m. Admission: 6.00/4.00/3.00 euros.

This month’s CULT! evening features a screening of Tran Anh Hung’s film Norwegian Wood. Introduced by Dario Tomasi.
To mark the publication of 1Q84, Murakami Haruki’s latest novel, the National Cinema Museum is devoting January’s CULT! evening to a screening of Tran Anh Hung’s Norwegian Wood. The film – based on the masterpiece of the same name published in 1987 by the Japanese author – will be screened on Wednesday, 25 January 2012 at 8.45 p.m. in Cinema Massimo’s Screen Three. Introduced by Dario Tomasi.
There will be a second screening on Friday, 27 January 2012 at 4 p.m. Admission: 6.00/4.00/3.00 euros.
