A MUSEUM FOR AFRICA: Sometimes in April by Raoul Peck.

For the occasion of worldwide Africa Day celebrated on 25 May, the National Cinema Museum will host the film screening of Sometimes in April, in which the filmmaker of Haitian origins Raoul Peck recounts the tragic history of the 1994 Ruandan genocide, Saturday 26 May, at 8.30 p.m., on Screen Three at the Cinema Massimo.

Bugs, Daffy, Sylvester & Co. The cartoons of Warner Bros.: Golden Collection part III and Golden Collection part IV.

Due to the great success obtained with the public at the week-end screenings dedicated to the Warner world cartoon characters, the National Cinema Museum will offer additional enjoyable incursions into the Looney Tunes universe for the month of May. Golden Collection part III and Golden Collection part IV a selection of the best stories of the most popular characters in the series, will have repeat screenings on Screen Three at the Cinema Massimo Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 May, at 3 p.m.

LAVORI IN CORTO (WORKS IN SHORT): awards and screenings

The National Cinema Museum Association and the Riccardo Braghin Association present the awards ceremony for the winners of the first call for the “Works in Short” competition, Monday 28 May, at 8.45 p.m., on Screen Three at the Cinema Massimo. The awards will be followed by the screening of the shorts that took part in the competition.

Admission free on a first come first seated basis.

MAGNIFICHE VISIONI (MAGNIFICENT VISIONS): Blood and sand by Fred Niblo

For MAGNIFICENT VISIONS: The Permanent Festival of Restored Film, the National Cinema Museum presents the film Blood and sand by Fred Niblo, Tuesday 29 May 2012, at 8.45 p.m., on Screen Three at the Cinema Massimo, in the print restored by the Bologna Municipality Film Archives and the Swiss Film Archives. Repeat screening Wednesday 30 May 2012 at 4 p.m. Admission: 6.00/4.00/3.00 euro.

The screening on Tuesday 29 May will be accompanied by live music played by Maestro Stefano Maccagno and introduced by the presentation of the volume Rodolfo Valentino. Cinema, cultura and società tra Italia e Stati Uniti negli anni Venti (Cinema, culture and society between Italy and United States in the Twenties) by curators Silvio Alovisio and Giulia Carluccio (Torino, Kaplan, 2011). Writer Gianni Farinetti and filmmaker Davide Livermore are attending in addition to the curators.

CROSSROADS: Jailhouse rock by Richard Thorpe.

 For the CROSSROADS rendez-vous in May, the National Cinema Museum presents the screening of Jailhouse Rock, in which Richard Thorpe directs an irrepressible Elvis Presley, Wednesday 30 May, at 8.30 p.m. and 10.30 p.m., on Screen Three at the Cinema Massimo.

Admission 6.00/4.00/3.00 euro.
