For its second rendez-vous with BELOVED BY…A trip into American cinema, the National Cinema Museum presents the film screening of That lady in ermine by Ernst Lubitsch and Otto Preminger, introduced by Mariella Lazzarin and Matteo Pollone, on Screen Three at the Cinema Massimo, Friday 15 June 2012, at 8.30 p.m. To follow, screening of Sylvia Scarlett by George Cukor at 10.30 p.m.

Soulscapes. Valerio Zurlini Retrospective.

For the thirtieth anniversary of Valerio Zurlini’s demise, the National Cinema Museum offers a tribute to this filmmaker from Bologna – a sensitive and alert inquirer into the impulses of the soul – with an extensive retrospective titled Soulscapes. Valerio Zurlini Retrospective, from Friday 15 to Friday 22 June. The retrospective will be inaugurated on Friday 15 June, at 4.15 p.m., on Screen Three at the Cinema Massimo, with the film screening of Le ragazze di San Frediano (The Girls of San Frediano), Zurlini’s 1954 debut into feature-length films, inspired by Vasco Pratolini’s eponymous novel.

IL CINEMA DI CARTA (PAPER CINEMA): I cannibali (The year of the cannibals) by Liliana Cavani

For this new rendez-vous with PAPER CINEMA and to mark the recent publication of the essay Liliana Cavani. Ogni possibile viaggio (Liliana Cavani. Every possible journey) by Francesca Brignoli (Le Mani editions, 2011), the National Cinema Museum presents the film screening of I cannibali (The year of the cannibals) by Liliana Cavani, attending the theatre to introduce her film, with the volume authoress and the film critic Nuccio Lodato, Monday 18 June, at 8.30 p.m., Screen Three at the Cinema Massimo. Evening hosted by: Sonia Del Secco (National Cinema Museum).

Repeat screening Wednesday 20 June 2012 at 4 p.m.

CROSSROADS: Blank City by Céline Danhier.

For the June CROSSROADS rendez-vous, the National Cinema Museum presents a screening of the documentary Blank City, a wonderful tribute to the cinema avant-garde in New York, by Céline Danhier, born at the end of the 1970s in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Wednesday 20 June, at 8.30 and 10.30 p.m., on Screen Three at the Cinema Massimo. Repeat screening Friday 22 June 2012, at 4 p.m. Admission: 3 euro.
